Detailed Itinerary

Flight Zanzibar – Arusha Airport 11:30 – 12:30. Transfer to Tarangire National Park.

You’ll be picked up from your Zanzibar accommodations and taken to Zanzibar Airport for your flight across to Arusha.

Upon arrival in Tanzania’s safari capital, you’ll be met by your Rough & Dusty driver and whisked away to Tarangire National Park. Considered to be Tanzania’s most underrated park, Tarangire is a fascinating landscape of baobab trees, large elephant herds (the largest in Tanzania), baboons, buffalo, lions, impala, giraffes, zebras, and more.

After your afternoon game drive and picnic lunch, you’ll be taken to your overnight accommodations.

After breakfast, we will start with your morning game drive.

Tarangire is a particularly enchanting prospect for bird-watchers, with a massive 550 species of bird calling the park home. These range from the sizable ostrich and Kori bustard all the way down to tiny weavers and warblers.

Predators such as the lion and leopard also call the park home, and lucky visitors might get to see these ferocious hunters in action as the dry season forces herbivores to move closer and closer to the Tarangire River.

Additional notes:

  • Your first day on safari requires you to pay extra attention to both our company’s recommendations and the visitor regulations for the national parks.
  • Except for in officially designated sites, it is strictly prohibited to exit the vehicle during the safari. Large fines for the company and even the loss of its license may result from violations of this provision.
  • Off-road driving is also not allowed because such actions could seriously upset the delicate ecosystem’s balance.
  • You are permitted to smoke during the safari, but you must take special care to put out and dispose of cigarette butts because they frequently start fires in the savanna.
