Detailed Itinerary

Duration:
  • Standard Tour: 2 Days / 1 Night
  • Extended Tour: 3 Days / 2 Nights (including additional cultural visits and relaxation time)
Best Time to Visit:
  • Dry Season: June to October and January to February. These months provide the best weather conditions for climbing.
Day 1: Arrival and Preparation
  • Morning:
    • Arrive in Arusha or Moshi.
    • Transfer to the base camp at Lake Natron.
    • Briefing by the tour guide and equipment check.
  • Afternoon:
    • Visit Lake Natron for bird watching, particularly flamingos.
    • Enjoy a relaxed evening by the lake.
  • Evening:
    • Early dinner and rest, as the climb starts before midnight.
Day 2: Climb to the Summit
  • Midnight:
    • Begin the ascent around midnight to reach the summit by sunrise.
    • The climb is steep and challenging, requiring good physical condition.
  • Early Morning:
    • Reach the summit (2,962 meters / 9,715 feet) at dawn.
    • Enjoy panoramic views of the Great Rift Valley, the Crater Highlands, and Lake Natron.
  • Mid-Morning:
    • Begin the descent back to the base camp.
  • Afternoon:
    • Arrive back at the base camp for a well-deserved rest.
    • Lunch and relaxation time.
  • Evening:
    • Optional cultural visit to a local Maasai village.
    • Return to Arusha or Moshi, or overnight stay at a nearby lodge.

Additional notes:

  • Your first day on safari requires you to pay extra attention to both our company’s recommendations and the visitor regulations for the national parks.
  • Except for in officially designated sites, it is strictly prohibited to exit the vehicle during the safari. Large fines for the company and even the loss of its license may result from violations of this provision.
  • Off-road driving is also not allowed because such actions could seriously upset the delicate ecosystem’s balance.
  • You are permitted to smoke during the safari, but you must take special care to put out and dispose of cigarette butts because they frequently start fires in the savanna.
  • Furthermore, we respectfully request that you do not place your feet on the safari cars’ seats or sit in the back of them, as this type of behavior quickly renders the vehicles unusable.
