Ruaha National Park
Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible wildlife destinations, located in the Morogoro Region, roughly a 4–5 hour drive from Dar es Salaam. It’s often compared to a “mini-Serengeti” because of its open savannah plains, acacia and miombo woodlands, and abundant wildlife concentrated on the Mkata Floodplain — its prime game-viewing area.
Spanning around 3,200 km², Mikumi offers classic African safari scenery with large herds of mammals and rich birdlife — making it ideal for both first-time safari goers and seasoned wildlife lovers.
The park is named after the Great Ruaha River, which provides life-giving water for wildlife, especially in the dry season.
